A small holiday settlement has been established since the early seventies in
the north-east of Lanzarote, directly situated on the rocky lava coast. In
the very beginning it was only a handful of
apartments provided with own
water and electricity and only to be reached by the old famous dirt roads of
Lanzarote. Remembering this time and its pioneering spirit some of our
guests can still tell a lot of enthusiastical stories.
Castillo de Papagayo
By the time the settlement has developed into a small village and today there
is a still manageable size of apartments and bungalows,
which offer all
holiday amenities. Only Castillo de Papagayo S.L. stayed the same throughout
all those 30 years - as a reliable and competent partner in the arrangement
of your holiday domicile. As we have played a decisive role in the foundation
and development of the village, to many people our name - Castillo de
Papagayo - has become synonymous for this absolutely beautiful village.
Naturism
From the beginning Charco del Palo was thought to be a naturist place and
therefore one can be naked on all the beaches and on the own terraces and in
the apartment complexes. But in the meantime it is custom to enter the restaurants and shops dressed.
Directly situated on the coast we do not have any sandy beaches. The coast is
mostly formed by lava rocks where on some days you can enjoy the breakers as
an overwhelming act of nature. But we do have three wonderful, differing
places where you can either swim in the sea or in a natural sheltered tidal
basin which is always filled with fresh water by high tide and low tide, or
in a nature-pool which as well allows very untrained people to have a swim.
