Lanzarote is the eldest of the Canary Islands and because of its mild climate
it is possible to visit it all year round. Because of this, the archipelago
is as well often named as the islands of everlasting spring. Maybe it were
the daily temperatures of 20 to 30 degrees centigrade and the water temperatures of between
18 and 22 degrees centigrade that Plinius encouraged to give name to the Insulae Fortunatae:
The Islands Of Bliss. Inspired by the colours of the endemic plants he
talked especially about Lanzarote and Fuerteventura as being the Purple
Islands. A thought that we can understand even today.
Our island nowadays is to be reached easily in few hours by normal charter.
Nevertheless Lanzarote is situated far enough south (latitude: 29) to
enjoy sun and a refreshing bath in the Atlantic Ocean even in the winter
months. No matter if you are looking for a place to spend the winter or
simply want to have a few days off - Lanzarote offers you a wonderful ambience
- and especially Charco del Palo.
Soft tourism
It is because the artist and architect Cesar Manrique (+ 1992) developed the concept
of Lanzarote`s soft tourism that tourism is still manageable and Lanzarote has
become such a beautiful and popular island. Magic volcanos, black lava, the
wonderful blue sea, warming sunbeams and the fresh atlantic air form the
character of this marvellous island.
A lot of destinations for excursions are waiting for you. But as well if you
are looking for untouched nature you will find many places for contemplation
and peace that are hidden from mass tourism. Our small village,
Charco del Palo, in the north of Lanzarote, is one of those. Enjoy the quiet, the sun and the sea, as well as the unique rocky coast of our pleasant holiday
settlement far away from hotels and beach promenades.
